Dry & Dehydrated Skin

What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?

First of all you need to know the difference, dry skin often lacks oil, whereas dehydrated skin lacks water. Both will make wrinkles more visible but that doesn’t mean a sign of ageing.

Our skin can often look and feel dry, crusty, tight and flaky. This can be due to several reasons some of which are self-inflicted and sometimes it’s due to our genetic makeup. What we use on our skin and put in our bodies has a significant effect on the condition of the skin and complexion. Soaps, exfoliators, face wipes and other over the counter toiletries can often strip your skin of natural oil leaving it feeling particularly tight and dry.

What goes into the body is vital for skin health too. A diet lacking water and ‘good fats’ will also aggravate and encourage dry & dehydrated skin. Sometimes we have to deal with what Mother Nature gave us. If you suffer with skin conditions such as Eczema you are automatically predisposed to drier more dehydrated skin. Also as you age your natural oils and moisture levels slowly deplete, leaving skin needing a little extra moisture and hydration.
